Came across this stall when we drove to City Square so decided to packet dinner. The 当归鸭 herbal roast duck is not bad but rather salty. The char siew and roast pork is moderate and portion is rather small so I'll give 3 stars. Rice portion was generous.

Dang gui duck was good and affordable, the sauce was very flavorful and the meat was tender. We also had the curry fish head which was surprisingly delectable as well. Tofu was mid tho so I'd say skip it. Staff were friendly and helpful as well. Overall a budget friendly good find!

Kitty and I were on a staycation at KSL and decided to try Restoran Hao Bi for lunch after checking out. I'd been raving about their famous Dangi duck for years, and finally, I had the chance to bring Kitty to try it out. It's a short walk from KSL, about 10 minutes, but it was a bit of a climb up a slope on a hot day. We were surprised to find the restaurant wasn't very crowded, especially for lunchtime. We figured it might be because of the heat, and people preferred to stay cool in the air conditioning at KSL. But honestly, this place has been around for ages, serving amazing duck long before KSL was even built. I remember coming here a few times several years ago, and the Dugui duck was always a treat. We ordered the Dang Gui (Angelica Sinensis) Herbal Roasted Duck, Roasted Pork Belly with Soy Sauce, and Wantan Mee with Honey Pork, a perfect combination of flavors and textures! Kitty loved everything, and was surprised that the restaurant wasn't busier. The place has also been renovated since I last visited, and now has air conditioning, which made it even more comfortable. I enjoyed a refreshing bottle of Guinness to complement the delicious meal. The pricing was reasonable, and the service was great. The only minor drawback was the lack of a glass door, which led to a few houseflies buzzing around during our meal. But honestly, it didn’t detract from the overall experience. The food was exceptional, and I’m sure the restaurant will be just as busy in the evening as it used to be. If you're looking for a delicious duck dish, I highly recommend Restoran Hao Bi! We heard that the famous Dian Xiao Er restaurant in Singapore actually got its chef from here, and the taste of the duck is very similar. Not sure it's true. Overall, Restoran Hao Bi is a hidden gem for duck lovers in Johor Bahru. The food is excellent, the prices are reasonable, and the service is friendly. The only small drawback is the lack of a glass door, which can lead to some pesky flies. But for a delicious and memorable meal, I highly recommend giving this place a try.
